VAS Entertainment of San Luis Obispo, CA, stepped boldly into the 2008 X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival held in Salt Lake City, January 19-23, either linked directly to, or acting as distribution partner for 12 of the 44 films accepted into the festival this year. Of the 12 distinctive award categories, VAS titles were nominated 18 times. In the action sports industry's version of the Academy awards, VAS entrants or partner's films won "Best of" awards in 3 different categories: Best Documentary - "Bra Boys"/Berkela Films The hard hitting Australian surf film narrated by Russel Crowe. Best Core Film - "Enjoy"/Rage Productions An innovative and well recieved ski film. Best Original Score - "New Emissions of Light and Sound"/Globe Entertainment. VAS titles "Bra Boys", "Enjoy", "Lines", and "Apples and Oranges" each recieved 3 nominations in various categories. VAS CEO Michael Lythcott said, "We were blessed with great films in 2007, and to have them all here, and to see our producer family get nominated in so many categories, and to receive those awards.....it just doesn't get any better than that". |
